Bring markups from Bluebeam and Acrobat
Markups are standard PDF annotations, so a PDF marked up in Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat shows its markups in Stamppa, and the other way round. In most cases there is nothing to import.
Open a marked-up PDF
Section titled “Open a marked-up PDF”- File ▸ Open the PDF that someone marked up, or drop it on the window.
- The markups are there: clouds, text boxes, callouts, highlights, lines and measurements.
- Press Ctrl+L to open the Markups list, with status, replies and filters.
- Save with File ▸ Save (Ctrl+S). They stay in the PDF for the next person.
Move markups as XFDF
Section titled “Move markups as XFDF”XFDF is a small file that holds markups only, without the drawing. Use it when markups travel separately from the PDF.
Import
- Open the same drawing in Stamppa.
- Choose Review ▸ Markups ▸ Import markups (XFDF)… and pick the
.xfdffile. - Stamppa puts the markups on the same page numbers, in the same places. If the file was made on a PDF with a different name, it asks before adding them. Replies and statuses come with them, and the whole import is one undo step.
Export
- Choose Review ▸ Markups ▸ Export markups (XFDF)…. The same command is in the Markups list under Export ▸ XFDF for Acrobat, Bluebeam Revu or Foxit….
- Save the
.xfdffile and send it with the name of the PDF it belongs to.
What Stamppa does not read
Section titled “What Stamppa does not read”Bluebeam’s own markup export is a .bax file. That is Bluebeam’s private format, and Stamppa does not read it. To bring those markups in, open the PDF they were made on (the markups are inside it), or ask for the PDF saved with its markups.
Scale from Bluebeam and Acrobat
Section titled “Scale from Bluebeam and Acrobat”If the drawing’s scale was set in Bluebeam or Acrobat, Stamppa reads the page scale and the viewport scales from the PDF. Press N and look at the scale label in the Measure section before you measure. See How to measure a PDF drawing to scale.
- Import XFDF into the same revision of the drawing it was made on. On a different revision the markups land on the same page numbers and positions, which may not be where the change is now.
- To carry markups onto a new revision of a set, use Review ▸ Slip-sheet a new revision…. See How to compare two PDF drawings.
- To combine the markups of several reviewers, use Review ▸ Markups ▸ Merge markups from copies….
