License and account

Your Stamppa license belongs to your email. There is no password and no key to paste: you sign in with a 6-digit code that Stamppa sends you.

In Stamppa, open Help ▸ Licence… (or click the label at the top right of the window).
Type your email. If you bought Stamppa, use the email you paid with.
Stamppa sends a 6-digit code to that email. Type it in. The code expires after 10 minutes.

That’s it: your license is active on this computer.

The 14-day trial

The trial starts when you sign in with your email: 14 days with every feature, no card. There is one trial per email and per computer.

Without an account: reader mode

Without signing in, Stamppa opens as a free PDF viewer (reader mode): you can view, search and print, see every markup, and add notes, highlights and clouds. Reader mode needs no account. The other tools show a padlock until you sign in with a license or a trial.

Working offline

Stamppa works without internet. It connects only when you open it and when you act (sign in, Renew now, change computers, sign out) to confirm your license. It never checks in the background, and it never sends your documents or usage data.

It needs to connect at least once a year on the yearly plan, or once a month on the monthly plan; if it doesn’t, it gets 14 days of grace (5 on the monthly plan).

While you’re offline, Help ▸ Licence… shows a counter, for example Works offline until 14 Nov (23 days). When it runs low, connect to the internet and click Renew now (or simply open Stamppa while online). If the time runs out, Stamppa goes to reader mode until it can connect; nothing is lost.

Separately, when it opens (at most once a day), Stamppa checks whether a new version exists; you can turn that off.

Up to 3 computers

You can use Stamppa on up to 3 computers with the same email. When you sign in on a fourth, Stamppa lists the other three (name, system, last connection) and you choose which one to sign out.

Sign out on this computer: Help ▸ Licence… ▸ Sign out on this computer. With internet, the place is freed at once.
Sign out another computer: from the list on the fourth computer, or from My account. That computer stops when it next connects, or when its offline time runs out. You can sign computers out this way 3 times every 12 months; for more, write to support.

Changing computers needs an internet connection.

A computer without internet

For a computer that is never online:

On that computer, choose Help ▸ Licence… ▸ This computer has no internet. Stamppa shows a code for the computer.
On any computer with internet, open My account, sign in and enter that code.
Download the .stamppakey file and bring it to the offline computer (USB stick, network folder…). Open it in Help ▸ Licence….

The file works only on that computer and carries its end date inside: the period you’ve paid for, plus the grace days. It counts as one of your 3 computers. During the 14-day refund window, a file is valid until day 19 after the purchase; after that window you can download one for the whole period.

Team and Site

A Team or Site license has one seat per person. The administrator hands out seats by email in My account and can move a seat to someone else. Each person signs in with their own email and can use up to 3 computers. A Site license can also open Stamppa to everyone with your firm’s email domain.

Renewals

Your license renews by itself through Polar until you cancel: the yearly plan every year at your same price, the monthly plan every month. We email you 30 days before each yearly renewal, and you cancel in one click. There is nothing to paste: the next time Stamppa connects, it picks up the new period. Help ▸ Licence… ▸ Your account… opens your account page.

Refunds

You can ask for a refund within 14 days of your first purchase or of a yearly renewal; monthly renewals are not refunded, except when we charged you by mistake. See the refund policy. After a refund, Stamppa shows Refund requested: works until 19 Nov and keeps working for 5 more days, in case you change your mind. Then it says Your refund went through: the license ended on 19 Nov., and Stamppa stays as a reader.

When a subscription ends

On the yearly plan, Stamppa 27 stays yours forever, with every feature and every 27.x update, including the ones released after you cancel; if Stamppa 28 came out while your license ran, 28 is yours too. On the monthly plan, the version current the day you completed 12 months paid in a row stays yours the same way. Download it from My account. Before 12 months paid in a row on the monthly plan, or without any paid period, Stamppa goes back to reader mode. See Pricing.

If something goes wrong

The code doesn’t arrive. Check your spam folder and the email you typed. You can ask for a new code.
License paused: check this computer’s date. Stamppa says: This computer’s date seems to be behind. Fix the clock, then click Renew now (or download a new key file if this computer has no internet).
Your offline time is over. Stamppa says: Your offline time is over. Connect to the internet and click Renew now, or download a new key file.
The license records are missing (for example after a cleanup tool deleted them). Stamppa says: Stamppa’s license records on this computer are missing. Connect to the internet and click Renew now, or download a new key file.
